FREE Rock climbing day 7th August

I offered a climbing wall session at wirksworth for club members and said I would offer an outdoor session on rock when the weather was better.
If we wait for the weather we will be waiting forever, so i've picked a date.

Date: 7th August
Cost: Nil (to club members)
Time: 10am - 4pm
Venue: Peak District (Hathersage area)

Is this day with your instruction as only done a small ammount on an indoor climbing wall ?...if so, very interested in coming along.

Yes instruction and equipment will be provided. Depending on the number of people interested I am looking at setting up three top ropes and showing people how to tie in and belay so they can look after each others safety and rotate around the routes.

If there is anyone interested in learning how to rig the ropes at the top we might even get chance to look at that also.

We have got all day and will try and cover what people want to do

I was expecting a bit more interest for a free session. If we don't get any more interest it looks like it's just me Gail and my kids.

Hi Colum,
I guess the lack of interest is rather due to a lot of people being on holidays. I have to pack on that weekend as well, but will take up your kind offer and come; it will be 2 adults and two children (9yrs and 13yrs). The others aren't club members though, if that's ok, and I'm happy to pay any fees.

It would be good to have you along. I will also be taking my two youngsters. Could we meet at 10am at the old grindleford railway station cafe. That will give me chance to get a breakfast and decide which crag/routes to attack.

Great, see you then. By the way, I had been rock climbing for quite a while and - although I gave away all other equipment - kept my harness, Sticht plate, and some carabiners, which means that I could help with belaying. Could even have same spare harnesses but have to rummage through the loft.
